Nichelle has called Texas home for over eight years and is a dance artist, teacher, and writer living in Houston. She grew up in Central Pennsylvania. Her fascination with movement, choreography, and teaching was nourished in her hometown dance studio and further developed and refined at Slippery Rock University where she is an honored graduate of the dance program.
A respected dance instructor for more than 16 years, Nichelle has a diverse teaching history. Her dedication to educating through the art of dance has served pupils in both academic and recreational settings. She has instructed technique and repertory at a public university, spent three years as the dance director at an all-girl summer camp in Massachusetts, and has taught within numerous private dance studios and community programs.
Nichelle feeds her writing and blogging with these varied experiences. In 2008 she launched DanceAdvantage.net operating, editing, and regularly producing content for the popular dance education website. In addition, she covers Houston dance with news and reviews for Dance Source Houston and regularly pens dance articles for other blogs and arts resources online.
Nichelle balances her multifaceted career with motherhood. She is a stay/work-at-home mom to her young son, who inspires her creativity and enriches her purpose. As her personal priorities have changed with the growth of her family, dance writing has become an exciting new shift in a career that has been changelessly committed to dance.
